I've been updating my shop here lately and if you've been in to visit recently you may have noticed the new banner at the top of the page. I feel that this simpler design suits my shop better than the old banner and brings more focus to the logo. The old banner looked very much like the banner at the top of my blog page, which I will also be changing.
Here is the new banner...
Enjoy and tell me what you think!

New Wednesday: Almost, not quite
Past few days I've been working on bringing some new items to the shop. First off, I'll be offering stationery supplies, envelopes, paper, embellishments and so forth. Second, my design for jotters (aka small notebook) has been tweaked and if all is well I may have a couple listed by the end of the month.
Envelopes:
Will be here as soon as I can find my envelope template. I swear, things run away from me!
Sticky Ribbon Tape:
I've been looking for a way to make these, they're just so adorable! And I finally figured it out. So as soon as I get some packaging and figure out shipping and handling for these babies (hopefully this weekend) they'll be up in no time!

I CHALLENGE YOU!!
So I was doing some cleaning and organizing today and I realized I had some spare jars that use to be candles but had been used up. I ended up using them for holding cotton balls and my hair ties that seem to disappear into thin air. Hopefully I solved the problem.
And so, I came up with this challenge for you my readers.
1. Become a follower of my blog
2. Join my fan page
3. Tweet about the challenge
4. Post on Facebook about the challenge
5. Most importantly, you HAVE to do this one, is submit a photo of a repurposed/ recycled jar that you have done yourself, in JPG format to littlemisscards@hotmail.com, no bigger than 1000 x 1000 pixels.(If you do not submit a photo you will not be entered into the challenge). Please include the same name that you will use in your comments in the email so that there is no confusion. Also, I will be posting photos on the blog unless you do not wish me to.
6. Once you have done most of these, or all of these, please post a comment (seperate comments for each one) that you have done so. Be sure that your email address is included.
Winner's will receive a ten card set with their monogram of choice and will be picked at random through random.org you have until April 9th midnight.
Happy DIY!

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it!
So last night as I was checking my etsy and I noticed it said I had one conversation. I thought perhaps someone had featured an item of mine. But behold, a request! It said, "Hello, I saw your cards and love what you do, I was wondering, since your cards are custom made would it be possible to order packs of wedding invitations." But guess who it was from? My best friend! She didn't realize she was talking to her maid of honor!
Just kidding, she totally knew it was me. But wouldn't it have been hilarious if she didn't?
So, I messaged her telling her that I would come up with some templates for the weekend she would be coming home (she's away at college) and go from there.
I didn't fall asleep until probably about one in the morning, I was so excited and in about fifteen minutes I already had two ideas.
I'll be posting my progress on here, twitter and facebook and I'll try to add some pictures to go along. I better get going so I can get started on these invites!

Its a Start
Welcome to Little Miss Cards, I'm Elissa!
Little Miss Cards is a blog for my etsy shop; by the same name. The idea for the name came from my beautiful baby girl who I occasionally call Little Miss. I originally wanted to call it Sunshine Cards because of the lullaby I sing to her, but it was already taken.
Before I started selling handmade cards, I use to work at Plano Jerky. I had been working there for three years when I found out I was pregnant. However, for many reasons, my boss couldn't bring me back once my maternity leave was over. So for now, I'm living off of whats left of my savings and the support of others. During my pregnancy, I decided, that if I could help it, I never wanted to work another nine to five job again. I wanted to be able to be available to my daughter at all times, but being a single parent without a financially stable hubby to support me (and in need of a little extra cash) I decided to do what I do best; create (and I don't mean babies, but did make an awfully cute one ;) ).
But what? I'm fairly good with a pencil... But that takes a load of time and patience. I know how to solder and make jewelry... But you need a lot of money to get the supplies, which was something I didn't have. I could do photography since I was a photography major... But photography just didn't excite me like it use to. What to do...
Christmas, 2010, I bought everyone a small, inexpensive gift. My mother had put it in my head to make cards for everyone to go with their gifts, and to send one to my sister with a photo of my new baby girl, since my sister lived so far away and hadn't (still hasn't) been able to see the baby. So I did. The cards got rave reviews especially from my sister who said, "You could sell these!"
So, I opened up shop in etsy, started a facebook fan page and opened up a twitter account; and now here I am posting my first blog post. I hope that those who discover my blog will enjoy it and become a follower.
