Lucky Penny Make
Tell us your name, the name of your shop and what it is that you do here on Etsy.
My name is Barbara and my shop is luckypennymake (luckypennymake.etsy.com). I sell sewing and craft patterns, including my two most popular, a children's backpack pattern and felt dress-up doll patterns.
What is your family life like? (i.e. how many children, their ages, names, are you a single mom? Are they supportive of what they do and so forth?)
I am the lucky wife of an incredibly supportive, wonderful man, Jason, who works very hard outside our home so I can stay home with our two littles, Junah and Ezra. Junah is our sweet, spirited, four-year old daughter and Ezra is our active, cuddly, fun, twenty-month old son.
Do you have another job outside of Etsy and outside of the home?
Nope, just kids, home and etsy!
How do you balance home life, Etsy and work?
Home life is my priority, so I fit Etsy in around the edges. I'm fortunate to have a very supportive husband who helps me make time to work on projects. Since I sell PDF patterns, I don't have to keep creating stock the way someone who sells physical items needs to, but new patterns do take quite a bit of time to prepare. I work on my craft as much as I can and as much as I need to in order to feed my creative spirit!
What made you decide to sell on Etsy?
When my daughter was a baby I started designing and making clothes for her, and people kept encouraging me to sell items made from my designs. I started an etsy shop to do just that but soon gave it up because keeping items in stock, taking photos, and all of the other things that go along with etsy was just too much for me at that time. I gave it up, always with the intention of coming back to etsy with patterns for my designs. I was able to do that a year ago, and it was definitely the right decision!
Do you feel pretty successful in your Etsy shop or is there room to grow? If you feel successful is there a secret you'd like to share with us?
I do feel successful because I have several patterns that customers just love and have given me great feedback on. But, there is definitely room to grow. I'm always working on new patterns, and have more ideas than I have time to execute them! I keep reminding myself that I've accomplished a lot with two young children at home, and that, as my kids grow, I'll have more time to work on my business. I don't have a secret to success, but do recommend that people take that age old advice and do what they love. I really enjoy coming up with new designs and creating patterns that are unique. The joy that I get from this work is what keeps me going and helps me bring great patterns to my customers.
What do you feel makes your shop special and unique?
The quality of my patterns would be the number one thing that makes my shop special and unique, I'd say. Before having children I was a drafter and I use that skill in making my patterns. My patterns are all computer drafted with computer illustrations (rather than photos) in the instructions. The illustrations take much longer to produce, but in the end, provide my customers with a professional quality sewing pattern that is easy to understand and follow.
As Moms, things get chaotic and find it hard to stay focused, how do you stay focused and motivated?
I stay focused by taking it one day at a time and giving myself a break when I need to. Here too producing patterns is an advantage; I only list patterns that are ready to be sent out. So, on a hectic day, the only thing I absolutely have to do is send out patterns via e-mail. If I don't have time to work on new patterns, well, I take a deep breath and put it off for another day!
Staying motivated isn't hard for me, I expend so much energy taking care of others, and crafting is a way that I take care of myself. Doing creative things refuels me and gives me the energy I need to attend to all other aspects of my life.
The hardest aspect of etsy, for me, is the social networking (teams, facebook, twitter, etc.). The possiblities are endless and it can all seems really overwhelming sometimes.
Is there anything else you'd like the readers to know?
Somedays I don't have time for big craft projects so I squeeze in bits of time here and there to write (my love before I found sewing!). I share my writing (and sometimes free patterns!) on my blog (www.luckypennymake.com).
I have a coupon code for #72! It's from Sand Maiden Sleepwear! She has the prettiest pajamas. Use code TEN0611 to receive 10% off for the entire month of June.

Healthy Monday: Support
| Fitness |
When I lost twenty pounds (and actually kept it off up until I was pregnant) I had been subscribed to Fitness magazine. Reading stories of others who struggled and won the battle against obesity, diabetes and just a poor body image really inspired me to continue with my own battle. The articles also gave small hints and tips for weight loss. The magazine wasn't just about physical fitness but mental fitness and becoming proud of your body, weather you have tires or not. After all, how can take care of something you hate? On days where I'm feeling upbeat about myself and my body I'm much more likely to take care of myself.
If you don't want to subscribe to a magazine you can go to your public library to see if they have magazines and other resources. You can also go online for tips. MSN's health and fitness section was another that kept me going strong. Glamour.com has a wonderful section on health and fitness and another section on body image. There's so many great resources out there, but be careful what you choose to read, some places give bad advice and are geared towards pushing for get-fit-quick tips that don't truly work.

New coupon code today for new follower #70 and it's from Rust Belt Threads. Do you remember them? They were recently featured in our last Friday's Faves.

New Stuff and some changes
I've added a new stationery set to my shop! I'm really excited about it. In the past, I only did monogrammed stationery sets, with this set you can have an entire name or word stamped on it as long as it's no more than ten characters, including spaces. Isn't it pretty? I'm really proud of it.
You can have your name or word of choice printed in pink, black, blue, teal or purple. I used a white card stock which I cut and folded myself and then I had stamped each letter. To showcase your name or word, I hand embossed a very lovely, ornate design around it. I just love it. This is probably one of my favorites.
Also, you guys may have noticed a new tab up at the top of my blog marked "Charity." That's because I will now be 10% of all sales to Calvary Assembly of God, my home church. You can read more here.
Don't forget! I offer free shipping to anywhere in the world on orders over 30$. You can see my other items here.
I have new coupon code for you! This is for #67! Use coupon code LMC15 at Dancing Mooney for 15% off and runs through May 31st, better get shopping! This sweet heart even posted her on her own blog about my Coupon Code Extravaganza! n_n

Missy Maddy Shop
My name is Melinda. My shop is Missy Maddy Shop and I sell classic children's clothes, mostly items for girls.
What is your family life like? (i.e. how many children, their ages, names, are you a single mom? Are they supportive of what they do and so forth?)
I have one daughter, Madeleine, who we call Maddy. She is the inspiration for my shop and everything I design. Maddy just turned one year old this February. My husband, Shawn, is very supportive of my business. He's an incredible father and husband.
Do you have another job outside of Etsy and outside of the home?
Yes, I have a "day" job. However, I work out of my home office, which affords me the time to create and care for Maddy.
How do you balance home life, Etsy and work?
I do? LOL. I break everything down into clusters and assign priority. This allows me to dedicate100% of my time to the most time-sensitive items and move it off my plate. Then on the next one!
What made you decide to sell on Etsy?
I've always loved Etsy and the amazing artists that sell through the site. It really seemed like the most relevant and efficient way to launch my shop's online presence.
Do you feel pretty successful in your Etsy shop or is there room to grow? If you feel successful is there a secret you'd like to share with us?
There is absolutely room to grow. I'm new to Etsy, so I do not have the luxury of hundreds of sales like some of the more senior shops on the site. I think even then, there's always room to grow. Even at my level, I would advise on staying connected with your audience. Take advantage of all the free social media outlets. Also, treat each customer like your only customer. I’m such a stickler for customer service in generally, so I strive to treat all of my customers like gold.
What do you feel makes your shop special and unique?
What brings uniqueness to my shop would definitely be my own personal taste for fashion. I love all that is classic, vintage, and girly. Since all of my designs are for kids, I have my daughter in mind when creating anything. I consider how it would look on her, how flattering is the piece, and most importantly do I absolutely love it. Each item that I offer to the public is a little part of me that I love and have crafted to perfection.
As Mom's, things get chaotic and find it hard to stay focused, how do you stay focused and motivated?
I'm fortunate that I really enjoy what I do. However, sometimes I do get side-tracked with life and lose a little focus. What brings me back is the fact that I love the end result. I love holding that dress that was just a few pieces of fabric and lace when I started and thinking "wow! this looks gawwwgeous!" I actually love my creations so much that I get a little sad each time I have to send it to the client. I always have ideas for new designs or altering existing designs, which keeps me consistently focused on getting it done.

So, I've been trying to reserve Tuesdays to announce new shop items or updates, new ideas for my blog and such. But sometimes I just don't have anything "new" for Tuesday. So, today, it's all about new undiscovered Etsy shops

Healthy Monday... Lost count
Happy Healthy Monday. I'm sad to say I haven't been keeping up with my diet and have gained the weight I lossed *sigh*. I haven't been to the gym in forever and will probably postpone my membership since at the moment I'm struggling with the monthly payments since prices just keep going up and up. So I'm going to try and spend time on my bike when I can but there just isn't enough time in the day. It seems like something has been going on these past few weeks, just when I think we're out of the woods and I can relax a little and concentrate on other things something else comes up. But anyway...
I hope you ladies had a good Mother's day, my first Mothers Day ever was very enjoyable. Tessa's Dad sent me an entire DVD set of a particular series and Tessa got me (but my Mom paid) a vintage, Fire King jadite mixing bowl, it's so pretty! I just love Fire King. Mom and I went to Lowes to pick out flowers to plant on the patio, that was my gift to my mom since that was what she asked for, we had a nice time.
As for my weekend project I was supposed to get done, I wasn't able to get to it. I decided it wasn't really a priority project. Instead I have a new project that needs to get done as soon as I can. More to come on that later.
But enough chit chat, where are those coupon codes?
We have four new members totaling us at 61 which means four new coupon codes!
