I had a wonderful weekend!

I have so much to tell you! Like... Lots... So, please, no dozing here.

This weekend my Mom decided to take a "mini" vacation to my brother's so he can treat her to fine dining and antiquing. So, I decided to take this opportunity   to take time for myself by hitting a few of my favorite stores and here is what I came home with. Well, some of it anyway, some of it I already ate and some of it is better appreciated if worn.

I just love Hobby Lobby, my heart once did belong to Michael's but then Hobby Lobby arrived and my breath was just taken away... I'm sorry Michael's but Hobby Lobby just has so much more to offer! Can't wait to show you the finished pages of Tessa's scrapbook, adorned with these little beauties

I love this sweater so much. I also bought a pair of fabulous skinny jeans that make ME look skinny. The sweater was originally $48 and the skinny jeans were $38. But because J.C. Penney was having sale, guess how much I paid for them both? $37! That's less than the pair of jeans alone! I am very proud of myself and can't wait for the weather to turn cold.

And since I mentioned scrapbooking earlier...

This is the first page of Tessa's book. The photo was taken by me when she was two weeks old. I also put her "name tag" on here as well. The paper and all the embellishments were given to me by a friend of my Mom's who had bought a BOAT LOAD of craft stuff from a yardsale; from embroidery, to leather working to scrapbooking stuff. I'm really happy with how it came out. Can't wait to work on the other pages!

So how was your weekend? Any good photos you want to share? Just send it in to littlemisscards@hotmail.com

Friday's Faves: Tea Party

I've had this notion in my head for a while that I've been wanting to do as a party for myself and friends or as a birthday party for Tessa and her friends once she's old enough; a tea party.

The idea is to collect a mish-mash of tea cups and saucers to serve tea to the guests and as a party favor they would take home their "set" that they drank out of at the party. There would also be different tea's served; black tea, peach tea and lemonade tea with different cookies and cakes, all cutely arranged on platters and stands. Sweet. Guests would also be asked to wear a sun bonnet and dress. Sweet.

Crown Ducal "Wilmslow" Tea Cup and Saucer
How lovely is this little tea cup? I'd love to drink some peach tea out of this little lovely from SummerHolidayVintage, $12.

Vintage Pink and Gold Pottery Tea Pot Flowers
Oh how beautiful, I just love this! The crazing on it really adds to it's character, can't you just imagine this sitting along with the rest of of tea cups in your cupboard? KatyBitsandPieces $15

Sunflower and Pansies 1950's Summer Dress
I think this would be a perfect dress for a semi-formal tea party. I love the color and shape. Coralvintage $120

Sophia Beautiful Straw Hat
Wouldn't this look cute paired with the dress? I think so. LuminataCo $125

Organic Assam Black Tea Bulk
I just love tea, don't you? I could drink it everyday, in fact, sometimes I go through phases where I HAVE to have tea at least once a day and this sounds yummy. Hildegard $19.99

3 Tier Baby Blue and Gold Vintage China Stand
I'd eat cookies and cupcakes off this any day! Of course I'd still eat them if they weren't on it either... LaviniasTeaParty $67.65

Organic Strawberry French Macaron's
I've always wanted to try these. They would look so pretty sitting on china stand. SaltCityPatisserie $24

Missy Maddy Shop

Tell us your name, the name of your shop and what it is that you do here on Etsy.
My name is Melinda. My shop is Missy Maddy Shop and I sell classic children's clothes, mostly items for girls.

What is your family life like? (i.e. how many children, their ages, names, are you a single mom? Are they supportive of what they do and so forth?)
I have one daughter, Madeleine, who we call Maddy. She is the inspiration for my shop and everything I design. Maddy just turned one year old this February. My husband, Shawn, is very supportive of my business. He's an incredible father and husband.

Do you have another job outside of Etsy and outside of the home?
Yes, I have a "day" job. However, I work out of my home office, which affords me the time to create and care for Maddy.

How do you balance home life, Etsy and work?
I do? LOL. I break everything down into clusters and assign priority. This allows me to dedicate100% of my time to the most time-sensitive items and move it off my plate. Then on the next one!

What made you decide to sell on Etsy?
I've always loved Etsy and the amazing artists that sell through the site. It really seemed like the most relevant and efficient way to launch my shop's online presence.

Do you feel pretty successful in your Etsy shop or is there room to grow? If you feel successful is there a secret you'd like to share with us?
There is absolutely room to grow. I'm new to Etsy, so I do not have the luxury of hundreds of sales like some of the more senior shops on the site. I think even then, there's always room to grow. Even at my level, I would advise on staying connected with your audience. Take advantage of all the free social media outlets. Also, treat each customer like your only customer. I’m such a stickler for customer service in generally, so I strive to treat all of my customers like gold.

What do you feel makes your shop special and unique?
What brings uniqueness to my shop would definitely be my own personal taste for fashion. I love all that is classic, vintage, and girly. Since all of my designs are for kids, I have my daughter in mind when creating anything. I consider how it would look on her, how flattering is the piece, and most importantly do I absolutely love it. Each item that I offer to the public is a little part of me that I love and have crafted to perfection.

As Mom's, things get chaotic and find it hard to stay focused, how do you stay focused and motivated?
I'm fortunate that I really enjoy what I do. However, sometimes I do get side-tracked with life and lose a little focus. What brings me back is the fact that I love the end result. I love holding that dress that was just a few pieces of fabric and lace when I started and thinking "wow! this looks gawwwgeous!" I actually love my creations so much that I get a little sad each time I have to send it to the client. I always have ideas for new designs or altering existing designs, which keeps me consistently focused on getting it done.

Thursday's Faves

I'm switching days here, but only for this week. Today, I'm doing Faves instead of tomorrow because this week's week theme is

The Royal Wedding

and since the wedding is tomorrow I wanted to get this weeks theme up before everyone could witness Will and Kates nuptials.

093ct Natural Sapphire Diamond Ring in 18k white gold
I couldn't leave out the infamous engagement ring; however, I wanted it to be a different style, but just as beautiful and fit for a (future) queen. I found this beauty at honngaijewelry for $1,120

Mexico
I think Kate Middleton would look beautiful in anything, but I think I could see her in something like this. Her style is very chic, modern and she just seems like a minimalist to me. I think she would be dazzling in this. You can find this at AngelsBridalBoutique for $799

5x7 1969 Rolls Royce
It's been rumored that Kate Middleton is supposed to be going to the wedding in a Rolls Royce. All I can say is, "Good choice, Kate, good choice." You can't find an actual Rolls Royce on etsy, but you can find this 5x7 of one at marisabelfineart for $12.50

Men's Black and Tan Deco Vintage Silk Bowtie
Wouldn't it be awesome if Prince William wore a tie like this to his wedding? He'd be very dapper... And so adorable! You can get this for your man at TheSwankChap for $15

Silver Plated Rhinestone Bridal headband
I had to throw in a tiara; you can't have a royal wedding without a tiara, right? You can buy this beauty for your wedding, or if you feel like wearing it just to wear it (hey, I'm not judging!) at, NancysGem for $8.99

Royal Wedding Tea Towel
What cute tea towels! Wouldn't this make a great gift for the newly weds? I think it would make a great gift for any newly wed really. You can find this at helenacarrington for $21

So, will you be watching the wedding? I'm going to try.

Healthy Monday #4

I now weigh 131! Which Means since last week I've lost two pounds. I would love to lose a couple of more this week before Easter; my goal is to get under 130 by then.

I think what's helped is that I've started riding my bike a little every day, even if it's just around the neighborhood. Also, I've started drinking two cups of coffee in the morning; supposedly, caffeine helps boost metabolism (followed up by TONS of water)

I thought I'd share this link with you guys, it's a slide show of some really helpful tips to cutting back calories without depriving yourself

I have a question for you bike riders out there. I really like hats, specifically fedoras and I would like to wear them more including on my bike rides but I feel like they'll fly away, especially on main roads with cars zipping by. So how do you keep it on? Any ideas?

A Bunny Named Banana
I actually bought this little bunny for my daughter's first Easter; and I love it so much (and I hope she will too) that I just had to share it with you a second time! You can see the first post about it here. You can find this little cutie at Cindimh for $12.

Pettiskirt Dress
Now how can I do an Easter Friday Fave's with out a little Easter attire? These dresses are darling! And so much fun, I can't imagine a little girl wearing one of these without finding herself twirling in front of a mirror, can you? You can find this at DreamSpunKids for $75.

Teeny Punks Long Sleeve Tuxedo Onesie
Oh my goodness! If I had a little boy... Is this just not the cutest onesie you've ever seen for a little boy? You can find this at Niksicle for $20.

Sweet Heart Cut Out Dress
This one is for the Mom's; hey, the kids can't have all the fun, right? I love this dress, it's beautiful, has a vintage feel and made to your measurements. I hope to buy one for myself eventually. You can find this dress at vivaveritas7 for $90.

Sweet Easter Burlap Banner
I'm diggin' this banner, there's just something about burlap, you know? This would look fabulous in a shabby chic home or farm house style kitchen. You can find this banner at sr85234 for $18.

Spring Flowers
I just HAD to add a Ukrainian egg. They're so beautiful; breathtaking really. Out of the ones I've viewed so far, this one is my favorite, probably because of the bright colors and tulips that are on it (Tulips are my fave). You can find this at barbaranovak for $65.

Sweeter than a Cupcake
"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it , you'll be the grandest at the Easter Parade..." So this isn't a bonnet EXACTLY but it goes on your head and it's frilly so it counts. I just think this is gorgeous and fun. Your little one can re-wear it for those tea parties with her stuffed friends, Mr. Bear and Penelope the Pig, she'll be very dashing. You can find this at missrubysue for $45.

Easter Egg Marshmallows
There were two things I lived for on Easter when I was kid, waking up to a basket filled with candy (Stuffed bunny included, but he wasn't edible) and the hunt. So I couldn't leave out some yummy edibles for this post. You can find these eggy marshmallows at OhYum for $8.
