New Wednesday: More Pounce

Good news! I found my envelope templates! So I'll soon be offering handmade envelopes in kraft paper. I'd really like to offer it in other papers as well but let's get the kraft ones established first, shall we?

Friday's Faves: Hey! Teachers! Leave us kids alone!

We don' need no education... Oh, sorry. I was thinking about today's post being about the up and coming new school year and I carried away. If you know what song that's from then you rock and that's all there is to it.

My favorite thing about school starting back up is starting everything new again, new clothes, supplies, a new bag; starting out fresh with a new outlook on life. Then comes finals and I just want to quit school forever. But enough of that, onto the good stuff.

Grey and Yellow Marbled 3 ring binder
This is a handmade binder and I really like the color selection, it's serious and yet fun. I think anyone, from a child to someone in college would enjoy this binder. $17.50 at Manuelasbindery

Agenda Planner for 2011 and 2012
OH. EM. GEE. I am so in love with this! Planner's are so important, especially for students who need to keep track of all their homework and extracurricular activities and who wouldn't want to in something as adorable and fun as this? It even comes with stickers...STICKERS! $40 at veekee780

The Rolston Bag
"It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine." - Mike Meyers, Waynes World.

$138 at shelterprotectsyou

Vintage Wallpaper a Set of 10 Washi Coated Pencils
How adorable are these mini pencils? I prefer pens myself but I think I would use these. $9 at maoiliosa

Handmade Phoenix Pen
Speaking of pens, this one is made from Amboyna Burl and is absolutely beautiful. $35 at WoodManArts

Hand Stamped Bookmark

I chose to showcase this bookmark because I thought it would be a very nice gift to someone going off to college for the first time. $18.50 GracensDesigns

Chickadee Pouches
Are these not the cutest little pencil pouches? And you get two of them! $18 at dwelladorn

Hand Embroidered Eyeglass Case Holder
That's adorable. It's an eyeglass case and it's embroidered.$12 at VintageandWhimsy

A few of my favorite things: Friday's Faves

This Fridays Faves theme is... Well, literally my faves. Today's post is based on my most treasured items that you can find on Etsy

Coral Desk/vanity
My most favorite thing at the moment is the desk I just refinished. I absolutely adore it. True, this desk from Poppyseedliving looks nothing like mine, but isn't it adorable? I really love the brightness of it and love how it can be a desk and vanity, just add a cute mirror and there you go! $425

Kodak Duaflex Collection- 620 cameras
I love my vintage camera collection, unlike this collection from CraftBangBoom, I only have one of these babies with the original box. Also, just a little decorating tip, vintage cameras make GREAT bookends. $130

Vintage Oshkosh Striped Suitcase
Sadly, I couldn't find a vintage suitcase that matched the one I have that I bought from an antique store a couple of years back to store my craft stuff. But this one is really cool and I wouldn't mind having it to use as a keepsake box for Tessa's things. You can find this at BrightWallVintage for $56

Vintage Wooden Pie Picnic Basket
There's just something about picnic baskets that make me all warm and cozy inside. Perhaps its the representation of simpler times and pleasures? Perhaps. The basket I originally bought for a dollar at a yard sale for my bike is bigger and different than this one from RustBeltThreads, but this is exactly what I envision when I think "picnic basket," filled with fried chicken and home baked bread with some chocolate chip cookies... mmm... $30

Vintage 1958 Cruiser Bicycle
Speaking of bicycles, look at this beauty! My bike isn't as old or as beautiful as this one but I do adore it! You can find this at sickandthrifted for $400

Vintage Painted Cottage Chic Shabby White Pine Trunk
I had spent about a year searching for the perfect chest at the perfect price at antique stores to keep treasures in for when I enter into my own home. But nothing stood out. During that year my uncle who had been ill came to stay with us until his last day on this Earth. But he did have good days and on those day's he worked on building a chest for me, which I hope to pass on to my daughter some day. This one is different from the one my Uncle hand crafted just for me but it is lovely. $225 at paintedcottages.

Fine Art Photograph Jug of Tulips
Ahhh...Tulips. My favorite flower. They're so sweet and elegant in their simple design and beautiful colors. They are the epitome of Spring, don't you think? You can find this print at JudyStalus for $17

Vintage 70's Floral Platform Wedge
Nothing makes me feel more hot than a pair of fabulous wedges. By the way, I wouldn't be showing these to you if they were my size, I'd be hoarding them all to myself. But, if you can fit into these you can find them at BLEUOWL for $19.99

Joyful Summer Fedora Hat
Okay, so maybe there is something else that makes me feel hotter than wearing a pair of wedges, and that's wearing a pair of wedges with an equally cute fedora. You can buy this beauty at dantiehandmade for $38

Vintage Itallian Design Sunglasses
Since we're on the subject of accessories, my #1 must have year round is sunglasses, my dream is to have a giant collection of wedges, fedoras and sunglasses, yep.  If you dream of a large sunglass collection why not start it with these from LuciaMaeVintage for $14

Isabelles Sunflowers

Hobo Bag Large Coral and Tan
Tell us your name, the name of your shop and what it is that you do here on Etsy.

My name is April and my shop name is IsabellesSunflowers. I love to sew and make bags and things;)

What is your family life like? (i.e. how many children, their ages, names, are you a single mom? Are they supportive of what they do and so forth?)

I have a 2 year old daughter and a 10 year old son, Isabelle and Devon. I was a single mom for many years with my son until my wonderful husband came along and took us in. He is amazing and very supportive of everything I do. My kids keep me very busy, My son is on two baseball teams, I just finished nursing school and I am working full time as well.

Do you have another job outside of Etsy and outside of the home?

I have been working as an LPN for a little over a year now and just finished school for my RN!!! I am working full time at a local hospital and loving it. In the mean time I am waiting to take my boards to be a "Real Nurse." Wish me luck. I am very excited to have my life back, school consumed so much of my time that I missed out on a lot of our family outings because I had to study, or write a paper.....BLAH.

How do you balance home life, Etsy and work?

One day at a time! My kids come first of course. I have to do a lot of planning ahead of time for little things such as, who is going to pick the kids up from school, drop them off, get my son to his games, what time to eat dinner, etc. But what would life be if it wasn't crazy? Unfortunately my hobby, sewing gets put on the back burner quite a bit, especially lately. I just keep in mind that everything I do I am doing for my family and that keeps me chugging along.

What made you decide to sell on Etsy?

I started making bags and things for my friends and family members for their birthdays and holidays. They all kept telling me I had to do something with it because they all loved their items so much. With a ton of encouragement from them, I took the step and joined Etsy.

Do you feel pretty successful in your Etsy shop or is there room to grow? If you feel successful is there a secret you'd like to share with us?

Oh goodness, I need all the help I can get with my shop. It has been a slow process for, I am not that great with computers. I am getting the hang of it. I put myself out there and ask for help and advice and try to incorporate the feedback as well as I can. My shop has come a long way but my sales are still lacking:( So, if anyone knows all the right answers, please share ;)

What do you feel makes your shop special and unique?

I feel that my shop is special and unique due to the inspiration behind the name! I make everything because I love to do it not to make extra money. I loved seeing the faces of my friends when they opened their package and thought this would be great to share with others, the feeling of having something made for you is a wonderful feeling. I love doing special orders too.

As Mom's, things get chaotic and find it hard to stay focused, how do you stay focused and motivated?

I just remind myself to stop for a second and breath. I remind myself that everything I am doing has a purpose for another person, my family and that alone keeps me going. You really do need to just take 5min for yourself to breathe every once in awhile.

Is there anything else you'd like the readers to know?

Oh, I forgot, the reason behind my store name. My childhood best friend passed away when we were 21 from colon cancer. Her favorite flower was the Sunflower. Her name was Katrina. My daughter Isabelle's middle name is Katrina. My son had said hey mom, why not IsabellesSunflowers........ It just stuck.

Thanks for taking time to get to know me, I wish you all luck in your adventures of life!!!

A Graff Designs

Well it's Wednesday, which means it's time to feature a fellow mom who is an Etsy artist. This mom makes adorable, very practical gifts for moms. Here's her story

Baby Wrap Carrier
- Tell me about yourself and home life (ie. you name, how many children do you have, their ages, names, other things that you do, some things about your family etc.)
April Graff. Mother of 2. A 2 year old, VERY active little boy and a 7 month old little girl. I work full-time outside the home as well as a Registered Dietitian.  Lazy Sayurdays are my favorite! This is a great time to catch up on spending time together (and housework if we feel motivated)

- What is the name of your shop and what is it that you do?
Shop Name is A Graff Designs (http://AGraffDesigns.etsy.com). I make handmade gifts for the fashionable and practical Mom. I specialize in Diaper & Wipes Clutches, Baby Wrap Carriers, and Diaper Bags as well as other mom-friendly products.

- How did you get started?
I started by making gifts for the many friends and family who were having babies. As a mother of 2 kiddos I know which gifts I appreciated the most - the ones that were practical AND cute! So A Graff Designs was born.
Diaper Wipes Clutch

- How do you balance your family and business?
I struggle with balancing all aspects of my life (I think we all do). I try to work on my business when the kids are sleeping. (Which means less sleep for me). Plus, I have a WONDERFUL and supportive husband who is great at helping around the house and with the kids.

- Is there any advice you'd like to give to other etsy Moms?
Do what you love!

- Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know about you or your shop?
I love making custom orders! Making a gift with a person in mind is such a treat!
I'd think the baby wrap carriers are my favorites, whats yours readers?

Thursday's Faves

I'm switching days here, but only for this week. Today, I'm doing Faves instead of tomorrow because this week's week theme is

The Royal Wedding

and since the wedding is tomorrow I wanted to get this weeks theme up before everyone could witness Will and Kates nuptials.

093ct Natural Sapphire Diamond Ring in 18k white gold
I couldn't leave out the infamous engagement ring; however, I wanted it to be a different style, but just as beautiful and fit for a (future) queen. I found this beauty at honngaijewelry for $1,120

Mexico
I think Kate Middleton would look beautiful in anything, but I think I could see her in something like this. Her style is very chic, modern and she just seems like a minimalist to me. I think she would be dazzling in this. You can find this at AngelsBridalBoutique for $799

5x7 1969 Rolls Royce
It's been rumored that Kate Middleton is supposed to be going to the wedding in a Rolls Royce. All I can say is, "Good choice, Kate, good choice." You can't find an actual Rolls Royce on etsy, but you can find this 5x7 of one at marisabelfineart for $12.50

Men's Black and Tan Deco Vintage Silk Bowtie
Wouldn't it be awesome if Prince William wore a tie like this to his wedding? He'd be very dapper... And so adorable! You can get this for your man at TheSwankChap for $15

Silver Plated Rhinestone Bridal headband
I had to throw in a tiara; you can't have a royal wedding without a tiara, right? You can buy this beauty for your wedding, or if you feel like wearing it just to wear it (hey, I'm not judging!) at, NancysGem for $8.99

Royal Wedding Tea Towel
What cute tea towels! Wouldn't this make a great gift for the newly weds? I think it would make a great gift for any newly wed really. You can find this at helenacarrington for $21

So, will you be watching the wedding? I'm going to try.
